In March 2019, we adopted a local community by the name of Chashma Goth off of Landhi area in the Korangi District of Karachi. We launched a pilot project in which we distributed 30 reusable trash bags each capable of holding 10 kgs of trash to the children in the area. Each full bag amounted to a cash value of hygiene or school supply item(s). Our goal is to implement self sustaining processes amongst the people of the colony so that they learn the importance (and benefits) of responsible trash disposal.
Many Chashma Goth residents turned up for our trash initiative- both kids and adults helped collect
300 kgs of trash.
Our initiative was embraced by the residents of the area who were amazed not only to learn about ways to dispose of trash correctly but also to see there neighborhood be free of roadside rubbish. We successfully collected 300 kilograms of trash from the area with the help of the community. Thanks to our generous donors, we were able to transport the trash to a waste disposal site where it will be disposed of responsibly.
